ich habe das Problem, daß ich eine Soundkarte unter Linux nicht zum Laufen bringe. Es handelt sich um eine Terratec Solo-1, die mal in einem Vobis-PC drin war. Ich habe nicht allzu viele Informationen über die Karte, nur, daß sich der Soundchip ES1938 nennt. Hat irggend jemand eine Idee, was ich wo einstellen muß, um der Karte Töne zu entlocken? Oder könnt Ihr mir eine Newsgroup oder so nennen, wo ich mal nachfragen könnte?

Es gibt zwei Varinaten: 1. Das kommerzielle OSS hat einen Treiber für diese Karte und erkennt alles automatisch. Es reicht dann, als root "soundon" einzugeben bzw. "soundoff". Kosten: 20$
2. Du nutzt Kernel 2.2.13: Seit dieser Version gibt es einen Treiber, der esssolo heißt (oder so). Der müßte damit funktionieren. Die Reihenfolge zum Laden der Treiber muss ich nachsehen. (In meinem Notebook ist so ein Chip drin) Dieser Treiber ist eingeschränkt brauchbar; für Mod-Files und Wav geht alles, aber bei .au-Files hat der Treiber noch Probleme (steht auch in der Readme!)
Wenn Du die Treiber bei 2. brauchst, musst Du Dich melden.
